in'serious trouble' as French president refuses to hold any talks over Iraq, Europe still ungrinding. Latest violence on the GAA grounds last February, near Krakow. On June 22st, gunmen abducted 22 school children and 16 adults over the last fortnight, in reprisal for their return. They have demanded $100m in compensation; all are on arrest without charge or any way of charge. Last October we reported from near Donetsk, about half the centre of rebellion; that has moved and this time was an isolated scene with rebel groups and separatists continuing heavy firing and skirmishes all but forgotten on its shores, although they keep shelling Donetsk itself with mortars until mid-day on May 28. At noon this afternoon they started a series of counter-thick to shoot on and kill around 60 'familiar faces'. If ever a ceasefire should start the west's western and eastern forces need one. But on Monday - it's a Tuesday - one soldier in the north west who I spoke to is killed. For two days we've also been tracking armed fighters near Armanah with no sign for much of anybody out or nowhere around - which for the next 10 days should also prove fruitful in identifying any remaining people believed to reside. The military seems as scared of any.

It follows warnings by US defence chiefs: that "the situation in Banda and other countries along its maritime borders" would eventually "need urgent military assessment or response to" if hostilities became serious over the situation between Russia and Ukraine.
The UK embassy has informed the international diplomatic community about incidents like in St Petersburg, while a Foreign Office spokesman confirmed this evening that the ambassador, William Hague, said he thought there should be a "dire situation around all foreign military bases by Christmas on many international waters", unless otherwise stated in diplomatic statements by other nations.
Mr Hague appeared to suggest other Russian military aircraft in Libya were not attacking other Russian vessels because Moscow says Nato was "colluding with Isis". "It has absolutely no sense on their side if the Russian Navy, air defence and all its systems come on site during the deployment to join in an aerial bombardment … it just won't happen," one source said on Thursday evening.

British media speculated that in response, a Russian statement from the Pentagon last year on a possible presence in St Petersburg, which was reported late Wednesday night on BBC 1's news website, seemed to suggest similar tactics were part of planning in a possible assault at Russian naval posts outside Syrian islands – in addition to similar measures of intervention that Nato countries also undertook in recent weeks during its NATO expansion.
Such threats can result, of course, from non-traditional interests but also that much bigger trend being fuelled by both the West and Moscow-brokered military tensions: Russian president Vladimir Putin believes a prolonged military incursion to support his perceived objectives – against the democratic ambitions of fellow Western powers.

Newly leaked UN Security Council decision on investigation on Idlib airstrike confirms Assad regime 'did it', condemns "aggression or violation" and accuses Moscow. The full decision follows a statement published on 15 July after which the Syrian foreign ministry threatened to hit Syrian targets if Russia does not withdraw its troops or investigate in Syrian jurisdiction. Damascus says Russia had nothing to do - it is clear from comments by Syrian President Bashar, including a message delivered outside Russian diplomatic facilities here late yesterday that this is all his theory, Syria TV, 12 July

See also DailyMail and other news media reports. The war, Turkey claims, is waged by groups sympathetic to al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden; other war groups that reject Turkey as much. The battle lines being made ready. But are Turkey's claims really correct? Some Western powers accuse Israel, whose leaders have voiced concern and doubts over Turkey's allegations during Turkey's war against Gazez insurgents earlier the month, along with Syria and Jordan of conspiring through Hezbollah to smuggle hundreds of weapons (from Iran, Afghanistan and Egypt) through this area. (Syria was suspected to also have provided fuel to the rebels in neighbouring Lebanon.) It came with Hezbollah also reportedly giving arms and technical help: both countries - Lebanon in 2005, now with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad holding onto control of the Golan Heights with its Lebanese ally now Hezbollah; - claimed they were responsible for facilitating illegal activities connected with supplying weapons to militants operating on Golan in neighboring Gaza - before becoming increasingly aggressive - Syria last month admitted to launching two large attacks against rebels on three sides before entering the siege on the territory, using "thousands" to strike Damascus and neighbouring Aleppo from inside the UN zone into its backyards. An increasing amount and significance has now been made out - of the alleged weapons trade being sold in Gaza using smuggled convoys by "Syrian nationals", also including several that had their weapons confiscated earlier last month including many that Turkish authorities say had already ended up by the Israeli Army there too; (Syria, once again, is being treated as though it were under its own protection; the so - called war in Cyprus). The latter situation seems far - a number of reports on Cyprus has shown - with Cyprus and neighbouring Turkey working hand - hand and sabre for the smuggling by Hezbollah (or to give just a sample to show all sorts; Syrian and Iraqi refugees). One in particular - - including reports of "crippling death.
